Rook couldnt help a curious;y raised eyebrow. "Mpt many are willing to take that chance..." she commented, on the verge of what might have been a compliment, if she was more used to giving them...

Nick shrugged. "I'd rather take that chance, and find myself right, than risk my life everyday for nothing," he stated quietly, then paused.

Rook couldn't help a slight smile, tainted by a smirk. Odd how she should come across someone with such a rare attitude.

Nicholas was silent, glancing occasionally at Rook as they walked.
((Gosh... I got no muse right now. We need action tho... any ideas?))

hmmm not really... god I hate not having a brain... ummm, something about either of their pasts appearing... and... something... happens...? X( We could skip ahead to somewhere, not sure where...
Rook wondered what might be so curious about herself to cause this, not finding herself teeribly interesting, escpecially when she takes on a tacturn demeanor.

((Heh, sounds good to us. Just as long as they're not randomly wandering))
"Why were they after you?" asked Nick abruptly, turning his grey eyes towards her.
((I don't think he actually asked that...))

(Nope, don't think so)
Rook contemplated this, wondering about where it had actually started. "Some time ago, I was meant to be sold to a syndicate, they were just henchmen from that mob." She was quiet a moment meaesuring what might be her next words and decided she would just wait to see if he wascurious enough about her to question this further.

Nicholas thought about that for a while, grey eyes withdrawn and gazing into some middle distance. Finally he turned his sight outwards once more, directed at Rook. "How about the beginning... why do they know you?"

sry O kept dissapearing there for a bit, mother pesters me for chores
Rook nodded thoughtfully, recalling. "Well, for a long time my family trained all sorts, many mambers being specialized in various fighting techniques. We trained anyone who'd pay, or we started to work that way, when the world order started changing. In anycase, it was not unlikely there were a fair number under us who were not learning for the best intentions but still, we were caught off guard. One of our students was from that mob, the Snake Head, was there to infiltrate our archives for information. When I found out about it, he was killed, and the snake head never forgives when even the most trivial part is cut off, and I was kidnapped. Even though I was only sixteen, I was trained since I could walk and you'd think they'd be satisfied with that... trade. But also like a snake, they take more than they need in one sitting. They were hardly satisfied it seemed..." Rook was quiet, though did not show the pain of the memoried that were returning. She knew she was pausing too long, and would seem foolish, but she'd rather calm herself before continuing.

((Mothers... can be irritating))
Nicholas was silent, his eyes solemn if not sympathetic. This woman had a violent history, he'd concluded that already, but then so did everyone these days. It just seemed stranger the more you knew the person who belonged to the story. "Snake Head... they are a large and powerful group to be messing with, no?" he mused quietly as he walked, hands shoved into his pockets.
