I suggest reading them... and comeon, you've read Shannara, they're about the same size, maybe a little bigger.... but they are great, I just finished the second, The Great Hunt and can't wait to start the third, the Dragon Reborn... But I digress...
In this world (doesn't have a name that I can figure out) the Wheel of Time spins, and as it spins, it weaves that pattern of an age... which is how the events in an age progress, this wheel has seven spokes, one for each age... to quote the books... "The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass leaving memories that become legend, then fade to myth, and are long forgot whe nthe Age that comes again. In one Age, Called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Dhoom. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning." But that's just backround info.
It is about these three boys, from a little out of the way villiage called Emond's Field. They are chased out of their village by trollocs (equivilent of orcs) and have to make their way toward Tar Valon, the city of the Aes Sedai (or pretty much magic makers). It is the tale of their journeys, hardships, and discoveries about themselves.
Sorry, but it's a bit long winded...
